Alter Ego

"The Tunel of Love". Nit CASM de Hangar. Santa MĂłnica Art Center. Bacelona. Spain.

September 2009.

Nit Casm de Hangar. The Tunnel of Love

The work is based on the Myth of Narcissus, reflecting the situation of humans in today’s society, which has turned into a struggle between individuals.
The artist is represented as a being in love with an ideal self, an ideal image impossible to attain, which destroys the love of the others due to the incapacity of loving one’s real self. It is a struggle between the alter and the ego.
Narcissus vs. Narcissus: the struggle for social recognition, which the individal, in this case the artist, claims exclusively for herself.
Woman against man, siblings against siblings, a struggle for power ending in death and destruction for both individuals.
